What is a Personal Shopper and where to learn it

"OR

“An experience that will change your life” is the phrase with which Piluka, who in his more than 20 years has advised politicians, big businessmen, executives, elite athletes, actors and actresses, influencers and singers, defines this diploma course that begins on September 5.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE AN IMAGE CONSULTANT AND A PERSONAL SHOPPER?

An image consultant

A professional specialising in taking care of the client's visual presence, both in their public appearances and in their private life. The consultant's main responsibility is to build an authentic image, consistent with the client's values and personality, with their lifestyle and professional goals.

Personal Shopper

A personal shopper is a person who buys clothes and takes care of a client's wardrobe. Good taste or a love of shopping are not enough, there is much more: specific training is needed to provide all the knowledge about the fashion industry and the latest trends, in order to be able to carry out a complete image consultancy.

SUCCESS STORIES

For Rubén Arteaga, a successful Colombian image consultant and personal shopper who was one of Piluka De Echegaray's first students, "I came to the diploma as an internal calling to the passion I have for fashion, but which I did not see as a designer, stylist or window dresser. I always sought to connect with fashion, but from my intention which is to serve others and I immediately made a mark with this diploma."

“The most valuable thing I learned was to recognize my talents and attitudes, how to make the most of this great passion that is my personal image. Another value was the ability it gave me to connect with people and improve not only their external image, but also help them continue on that path with a better projection,” says Rubén.

Finally, Rubén says that the content of the diploma shows that we must have all the aspects of our life drawn up, personal, sentimental, professional, that image of what we want and what we are going to do is acquire those tools to achieve it.

PILUKA, A MASTER OF IMAGE AND FASHION

Piluka de Echegaray has more than 20 years of experience working in personal, corporate and fashion image, which is why she has developed more than just a strategy; she has developed a method with a series of questions and processes that will help her achieve comprehensive training as an image consultant and personal shopper.

She studied Business Creation at ESADE and is a qualified Personal Coach from The International School of Coaching. She is the director of the Piluka de Echegaray Institute, where she teaches Image Consulting and Personal Shopper courses. She specialised in consulting for companies in the fashion sector, corporate image protocol and training; services that she offers through her company Piluka de Echegaray Image Consulting.

According to Piluka, Colombia is a country with significant potential and talent in the area of image consulting and personal shopping. She highlights the desire that Colombians have to learn new things and in each of the courses she has taught in the country she is increasingly surprised by how they absorb knowledge and the results are beyond the expected level.

“This training course offers a range of possibilities in the workplace. I like to say that it is extremely important that you do this first training so that you can self-evaluate and see what you are really good at and what you like. This combination is what will help you to work in the sector, so that you see what is most suitable for you.”

According to Piluka, no previous knowledge is required for this diploma and you can take it without knowing anything. And if you are a designer, it is an upgrade for your job.

“There are companies like La Perla that work with intimate apparel, swimwear and party dresses, and one of their main advantages is that they are image consultants when it comes to designing. They understand morphology very well and when they work on a piece, they are thinking about what shape will best suit a woman's body,” says Piluka.

According to Piluka, when it comes to giving advice, what counts is the client's taste. "I think that the design is based on what makes the client feel good, what empowers them, their perception of aesthetics, and then who they want to reach so that they find it attractive."

“And to do this there are a series of tools and methods that we will see in the diploma, where you analyze their verbal and non-verbal language, their gestures, their words, their movements, etc.”, concludes this important Spanish expert.

The diploma thus enables students to develop the skills and competencies necessary to begin their professional career or personal interests, offering guidance at all times to understand current trends and to know how to anticipate them.
